My Answer : Jack is as old as Jerry.

Answer key's Answer :  Jack is the same age as Jerry

답지의 답도 맞는 것 같지만  Jack is as old as Jerry로 고쳐도 맞는 것 같습니다.

 

☞ Jack is as old as Jerry 도 맞습니다.

   My answer :  am going to be accepted.

   Answer key's answer : have been accepted.

   am going to be accepted. 가 더 올바른 것 같습니다.

 

☞ 제 생각에는 I am going to be accepted도 잘못 된 대답은 아닌 것 같습니다.

다만, 미래시제를 써서 허가될 것이다는 것 보다는

막 허가가 되었다는 뜻의 have been accepted가 더 자연스러운 것 같습니다. 

입학허가를 받았으니 내년에는 Shoreline Community College에 다닐려고 한다는 대답이 좀더 자연스러운 것 같애요.

 

P. 335  Exercise 24  ( Chapter 11 )

7.       lake is a body of       water that is smaller than      sea but larger

Answer key's answer : A Ø a a an a

sea 는 유일한 존재 ( ex) sun, moon ... etc)  인 것 같은데 그런 곳에는 다 The 를 쓰는 것으로 알고 있는데 a를 썼네요 .. sea라고 하면 다 하나로 연결 되어있기 때문에 유일하기도 하고 해서, 또 모든 사람이 알고 있기 때문에 The sea가 맞지 않나요.

 

☞ sea는 sun이나 moon하고는 관사의 쓰임이 다릅니다. lake, ocean, sea, pond와 같이 생각하세요.. 그러므로 다같이, a lake, an ocean, a sea, a pond가 맞습니다.

특정 바다를 가리킬 때는 the Red Sea 홍해; the South Sea 남해 처럼 쓰이지요.

Answer key's answer : There are many kinds of trees in the world.

흔히 " Kinds of ~~ " 를 쓸 때 kind에만 s를 붙여 kinds 로 쓰고 뒤에 ~~ 는 그대로 단수로 써서 “ 여러 종류의 ~~ ” 인걸로 알고 있는데 잘못알고 있는 건가요?

 

☞ kinds of ~~다음에 셀 수 없는 명사일 때는 kind에만 s를 붙이지만 tree처럼 셀 수 있는 명사일 때는 trees가 되어야 합니다.

many kinds of furniture ; many kinks of books로 쓰입니다.

 

20. When people use a lot of slangs, I can't understand them.

My answer : When people use a lot of slang, I can't understand it.

Answer key's answer : When people use a lot of slang, I can't understand them.

Slangs 를 Slang 으로 바꾸었으므로 ( Slang 은 셀 수 없으므로 ) them 을 it 으로 바꾸어야 될 것 같습니다.

 

☞ slang은 셀 수 없는 명사이므로 내 생각에도 it으로 바꾸는 게 맞을 것 같아요.

저도 잘 모릅니다...우리말 문법도 헷갈릴 때 많잖아요..영어문법은 사실은 저도 자신없어요. 책에 써있는 것이나 사전을 토대로 해서 생각해 볼 따름이지요.
